Athelstan Sound is a monthly sound and listening workshop at Resort for musicians and non-musicians alike.
This month’s Athelstan Sound is run by musician Stefano Kalonaris and is all about games, music and improvisation. All are welcome to join in and make some noise. Stefano says:
“Popularised by John Zorn’s experiments (Cobra, Hockey, Lacrosse, Xu Feng, Spillane, Godard), Game Pieces have a long legacy which includes J. Cage, M. Kagel, S. Tetsu, I. Xenakis, as well as ethnic musical practices like Inuit throat singing.
In this workshop original approaches and strategies for game-based systemic improvisations are presented.”
The session is open to all!
