Misguided Project
‘A true journey of discovery lies not in seeing new landscapes but in having new eyes’ – Marcel Proust
A journey that questions the nature of travel and escape. Escapism is about immersing yourself in other realities to retreat from the current situation. But is there really any freedom in escaping? Are we all hiding or seeking? Have you packed your emotional baggage?
The Misguided project includes a book and a boxed postcard set. There are thirteen individual picture postcards in each box each with their own vignette on the reverse describing a voyager on a personal journey linked to the landscape to the image on the front of each card. The cards can be read in turn by a group linking each card and vignette in sequence performing a complete narrative that describes and questions for need for travel and escape.
Open to Margate/Thanet residents and those furher afield who would like to explore art on their home ground but also to discover and enjoy an international art event a short journey away. With a local artists’ insights and perspective and a ‘Misguided’ performance the artist having exhibited both in Margate and previously at the Whitstable Biennale.
