Open School East was founded in East London in 2013 as an informal space for collaborative learning, with a view to supporting emerging artists and fostering cultural, intellectual and social exchanges between artists and the broader public. In 2009 Franca Pauli and Dario Colombo acquired on behalf of the Sicilian town of Salemi a collection of 42,000+ videos that made up Kim’s Video and Music, an infamous video shop in the East Village of New York City. Described as the “go-to place for rare selections”, Kim’s Video and Music was a cult New York institution for two decades; a repository of remarkable films and a hangout for many of the key players in the East Village cultural scene of the 80s and 90s. For Heritage Open Days, Reworks Studio presents an exhibition exploring the history and heritage of sea bathing, and the unique position of Pettmans, Dalby Square and Cliftonville within that history.
Sea bathing machines, seawater baths and bathing platforms were key in the development of the area, from the establishment of the Clifton Baths in 1828, to the Pettmans beach huts and bathing platforms of the twentieth century. HOD projects reflect the local historical precedent and reinterprets these heritage coastal industries. Continue Reading

An Artist led tour of the Margate Art Cluster and Whitstable Biennale 2016. Local knowledge shared about artists, practices, laced with history and the odd artful anecdote. Join the conversation exploring the art and works on view, giving you the ‘Inside Leg’! Beginning in Margate with a light lunch at Hantverk & Found, after which take a short train ride to Whitstable with a performance of ‘Misguided’ on the train, culminating in a tour of the international Whitstable Biennale 2016.
